I will never forget the day I made a prize fool of myself in the pulpit a little over three decades ago. I had just begun my ministry as a university chaplain. I was preaching on the “fruit of the Spirit” from Galatians 5:22. To drive home my point, I brought some artificially decomposed fruit into the pulpit. I don’t remember what I said, but I do recollect bluffing my university congregation about how fruit decays. I mean, I wasn’t lying or trying to deceive anybody. I was merely using the festering fruit to teach a spiritual truth. After the service, a chemistry professor came up to me and called my bluff.

Since that memorable day, I have strained every sinew, pulled out all the stops, and moved heaven and earth to fact-check every claim I make while preaching, teaching, or writing. I will not settle for a tertiary or secondary source. I will try to work my way to primary sources. I will scour the field for peer-reviewed literature or books by credible experts published by reputable publishers or university presses. If the topic is contested, I try to present both sides fairly.

Since I am not infallible, I get it wrong sometimes. So when a reader (or someone in my congregation) corrects me, I am always grateful.

I correct the mistake and, if possible, publicly thank the reader.

This is why I must share the outrage of many Lebanese Catholics, evangelicals, and Jews who blasted Pope Leo’s egregious historical revisionism on Lebanon. While visiting Lebanon recently, Leo portrayed it as a “remarkable place where minarets and church bell towers stand side by side” as a testimony “of its people to the one God.” Leo extolled Lebanon as a “witness to the enduring truth” that “Christians, Muslims, Druze, and countless others can live together and build a country united by respect and dialogue.”

Welcome to the 19th article in our new section on religion: Christian Nation.

I’d like to make a science fiction series. In the style of The Man in the High Castle (where the Nazis won World War II) it would depict an alternative present, where a few historical changes produced a world quite different from ours.

In this world, people suffering from gender dysphoria (i.e. “transgenders”) were seen as a curse and a burden. Society looked at them and the medical costs they imposed, the unsettling questions they raised, and decided, “Nah, you’re just not worth it.” We all made our excuses, pointing to their high depression and suicide rates — regardless of how they’re treated. We reasoned that they didn’t face much prospect for happiness, and likely would cost us all far more than they’d contribute. After all, as I’ve pointed out here before about our own real world:

In progressive Belgium, euthanasia is available for victims of Muslim terrorism. And in the crowning glory of modern leftist compassion, Canada now offers it for the clinically depressed.

So in this imaginary scenario, we set up procedures by which families burdened by their relative’s transgenderism could have them humanely euthanized — for the good of all involved. These medical and legal arrangements proved highly effective, eliminating (by some estimates) 80 percent of transgender patients in the country. The remaining 20 percent belonged to families with strong ethical or religious reasons for refusing euthanasia.

Among this eccentric remnant, the surviving gender dysophorics and their families reported a surprising result, however: They claimed that virtually all the patients and their relations were glad they were still alive.

They were happier being alive than dead.

But most of us paid no attention, silently thinking, “Better you than me,” or “It takes all kinds, I guess,” and went on with our lives.

Maybe the Nazis Actually Won the War

Would you like to live in such a world? However frustrating, politically obnoxious, and creepy I find the whole transgender phenomenon, I wouldn’t. I’d feel that we were dehumanizing not just the euthanasia victims but our entire society by callously dismissing one subset of human beings as “life unworthy of life.”

Well it’s a good thing we don’t have a society like that, isn’t it?

Except that we do. Look at my counterfactual above, and for “transgender” plug in instead “Down syndrome.” According to the U.S. Congress Joint Economic Committee:

Medical advancements have helped increase life expectancy of people with Down syndrome from about 10 years in the 1960s to over 50 years in 2020 according to JEC Republican estimates, but at the same time have led to expanded screening during pregnancy that opens the door to a rise in selective abortions.

JEC Republicans estimate that absent selective abortion, 80 percent more babies with Down syndrome would be born each year and that the Down syndrome population would be 217,000 people greater in 50 years, an increase which is greater than the current Down syndrome population.

The Final Solution to the Down Syndrome Problem

Entire countries in Europe (such as Iceland) are boasting that they have “cured” Down syndrome by detecting and aborting every unborn patient diagnosed. Well, that’s one way to do it, isn’t it? Has a very Nordic efficiency about it, though one I associate more with the Nazi SS than Icelandic fishermen.

Why does our society embrace transgender people as victims and heroes, as brave pioneers and fascinating transgressors — while ruthlessly hunting down and wiping out kids with Down syndrome?

It’s not as if people with Down syndrome made the same kind of demands as trans activists do. You don’t see Down syndrome advocates demanding that we abolish IQ tests, dismantle every barrier to Down syndrome acceptance, until people with Down syndrome were piloting airplanes and serving as cabinet members — and labeling those who opposed this as bigots and haters. Keeping a person with Down syndrome person healthy is nowhere near as expensive as changing a person’s sex, and fooling his body for decades with artificial hormones.

Down syndrome advocates don’t insist we use special pronouns, reject fundamental truths of biology, or otherwise reengineer our education and society to accommodate them. They’d just like us to stop hunting them down and wiping them out.

As a Christian who deplores the euthanasia or persecution of anyone whatsoever, I’d like to ask why we scapegoat and destroy kids with Down syndrome, but cosset and indulge transgender fantasies.

That Drag Queen Stands in for Your Favorite Sins

And I think I know the reason. It’s a dark one. While the average citizen might be equally unsettled by either a person with Down syndrome or one with gender dysphoria, there’s one critical difference between them. The former is simply a person who has been born with some physical and intellectual challenges. There’s nothing sexy or kinky about him, he’s simply somewhat disabled. Seems like he might be a “burden” to his parents, or the taxpayer. (Though in fact he’s a genuine bargain compared to the impact of a transgender person on insurance rates.)

The transgender person, however, is a sexual transgressor. He’s doing outrageous and kinky things that violate the Natural Law (whatever his culpability). If we condemn or reject his sins, what would that mean for us? For our own sins, the ugly stuff in our past or our Internet history? Libertines argue that rejecting transgender claims is only the “thin end of the wedge,” which will quickly be followed by bans on abortion, pornography, and other Natural Law violations.

And a lot of people are attached to those, much more than they are to innocent and harmless people who just got born with an extra chromosome.

Why does the U.S. have such a distinctive history? What is exceptional about us? How are we different from “normal countries” (Barack Obama’s term) — like those in Western Europe — which are mostly content to dissolve their sovereignty in the secretive, autocratic European Union?

If you ask most American liberals, and the historians they read, the answers are clear. We aren’t distinctive. We’re not exceptional, except that we embraced “diversity” through mass immigration before Europeans got the memo. We are a normal country, like France or The Netherlands. We’re just in denial about it. It’s the job of the Democratic party, our history teachers, and the U.S. courts to banish our old superstitions. To accept that there is nothing providential about American history. And that there was nothing Christian about its founding.

Our founders’ refusal to let Congress establish a U.S. church was meant to launch a radical separation of church and state. The purpose of that, we’re told, was to protect unbelieving citizens from the menace of “theocracy.” Those who disagree? They want to remake America on the model of Iran or Saudi Arabia.

Our rights don’t come from a Creator. (You’ll notice Joe Biden couldn’t bring himself to mention one.) They emerge from a “liberal consensus,” which means that they’re ever changing, and must be discerned by judges, then applied by the government. So we might have really had gun rights in 1783. But now we don’t anymore. Instead we have the right to protection from transphobic discrimination.

If that’s any consolation.

In the 1970s, as “women’s lib” conquered one cultural citadel after another — including the U.S. Supreme Court in the form of Roe v. Wade — the closest thing to a large-scale rebuke of feminism came from Phyllis Schlafly’s Eagle Forum, founded in 1972. Alarmed by the radical legal implications of the quickly ratifying Equal Rights Amendment, Schlafly mobilized millions of women to become actively engaged in fighting it, stopping it from being ratified as a constitutional amendment. Certainly, many of those women were faithful Christians, including Schlafly, who was Catholic. However, in more recent years, Christian organizations have been reticent to speak out against the anti-Christian roots of organized feminism.

Efforts to combat some of feminism’s advances may be found in the work of Pope John Paul II, including various encyclicals and general addresses such as Mulieris Dignitatem (On the Dignity of Woman) and his expansive theological work on the nature of male and female that became the Theology of The Body. The chaotic demands to ordain women as priests, which peaked in the 1980s and ’90s, have generally quieted down among Catholics. They have quieted too among Protestants, albeit for different reasons, as many Protestant churches have acquiesced and bought into the feminist lie of male and female interchangeability.

Recent years, however, have not shown any kind of a flagging of what many Catholic and Protestant influencers believe to be feminism’s virtues. New efforts to integrate, define, and implement feminist ideals into Christianity can be found easily at universities, news sites, blogs, podcasts, and in teaching or catechetical materials. There remains a general belief that feminism is simply malleable enough to fit in with even the most ardent adherents of the Christian faith. This belief, however, is proving to be incredibly misleading to millions of faithful, unsuspecting Christians.

The fruits have not been pretty. There is little difference between Christian women and their secular peers when it comes to occult practices or seeking out abortion. Catholic women use birth control at a rate nearly identical to the general population, despite the Church’s never-wavering teaching against it. Meanwhile, marriage rates are the lowest in history, birth rates are plummeting, and it isn’t uncommon to hear Christians, right along with secular women, state that they are just too selfish to have children. The feminist ideology has managed to sweep all of us into its orbit in one way or another.

The damage has redounded through the culture. Men and boys are suffering from the absence of appreciation for their gifts and God-given purposes because of the overemphasis on female empowerment. Marriage has become a luxury item unavailable to poor women, leaving many “married” to the government for the care and financial support of their children. Meanwhile, women of all classes who want to be married often remain single. Others looking for relationships must endure the expected humiliations of the hookup culture as a hoped-for entry point to a mate with a future. The blurring of the lines between the gospel message given to us by Jesus and a seemingly equally strong appeal to empower women has left behind many of the people whom it was supposed to help, particularly the poor, the weak, and the vulnerable.

Like Oz’s wizard, the glitter of feminism has promised much but is proving to be not only empty but dangerous. Feminism has been presented as just a “women’s rights” movement, serving a good purpose in general by providing women with jobs, education, opportunity, and empowerment. But as we dare to pull back its curtain to expose its philosophical roots, we see a much more sinister reality.

Literature professor Janice Fiamengo, who for years had been a devoted feminist, after researching the dark roots of feminism suggests that “everyone thinks they know something about feminism, and that little that they think they know is almost completely wrong.”

Those trying to connect feminism with contemporary Christianity tend to put a benign face on the movement, with a simple definition such as “feminism is about helping women.” Others are more specific, like John G. Stackhouse: “Feminism only means we champion the dignity, rights, responsibilities, and glories of woman as equal in importance — not greater than, but certainly not less than — to those of men, and we refuse discrimination against women.” This all sounds appealing, but things get complicated very quickly when we consider the specifics, such as men and women having different responsibilities, or how physical embodiment conveys an equal but mutually exclusive dignity.

But perhaps most importantly, these kinds of definitions aren’t what the feminists (of any wave) meant by feminism. And yet this ambiguity is what has given feminism free rein to influence, sway, and confuse the masses. The movement has become an intellectual behemoth by simply failing to define itself beyond a few empty tropes, like “feminism is the belief that women are people, too” or “feminism is equal rights for women.” Under the guise of something very good, almost all of Western culture has been unwittingly caught up in something very bad.

What is the bishops’ position built on? Institutional self-interest, and political alignment with a Democratic party that has flooded non-profits controlled by the U.S. bishops with $3 billion in just the last 15 years.

All right, evangelicals, it’s our turn.

While our conservative Catholic compatriots are grappling with ongoing Papal excursions into secular ethics, we also have work to do.

Evangelicalism in America covers a wide variety of churches, but we can get a sense of the state of affairs heading into 2026 by looking closer at one of the bigger groups inside the tent — the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC).

With just under 13 million members and 46,000 churches, the SBC is widely considered one of the bellwether evangelical organizations. Of late, the SBC has wobbled with a number of controversies, one of which arises from its own policy arm — the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC).

Author and commentator Megan Basham has summed up the ERLC as being generally feckless as a lobbying group. In fact, it regularly argues in favor of a number of secular leftist issues. For example, the ERLC was part of an evangelical group defending Joe Biden’s open-border immigration policies — which saw torrents of terrorists, rapists, murderers, and child traffickers waltz into America.

The problem, of course, is that many of the contemporary issues we face aren’t political as much as they are spiritual, which makes the influence of the SBC that much more important.

My favorite pro-life leader in America is Kristan Hawkins, founder and president of Students for Life of America. She’s tough, smart, principled, and highly effective. She uses the funds she raises to fight on the front lines and on the ground, both on college campuses and in pivotal local elections. She strongly supported President Trump, when some other prominent pro-lifers were still being prissy and hiding behind the skirts of the treacherous Mike Pence. If you know any pro-life donors who want to put their money where it will move the needle, point to Students for Life as their first, second, and third choice.

I last saw Kristan in Dallas at the Council for Life, where she stepped in to speak in place of the martyred Charlie Kirk. Her speech was amazing, holding the Trump administration to account for its lapses of principle on embryo-hoarding IVF and dangerous chemical abortion.

So I was troubled to see Kristan go public with a very questionable take — which got her significant blowback: “The death penalty is inconsistent with a pro-life worldview.”

I see this claim made often, probably because Pope Francis altered 6,000 years of biblical doctrine to make it the current teaching of the Catholic Church. It’s profoundly mistaken for many reasons, as I laid out back in 2015. Below is the argument I made. I hope Kristan and other pro-life leaders read this, and soberly reconsider their position.

Who knew that something as seemingly innocuous as the President’s Religious Liberty Commission (RLC)—created last May “to safeguard and promote America’s founding principle of religious freedom”—could turn controversial.

But last week it did.

Carrie Prejean Boller, former Miss USA and convert to Roman Catholicism, was booted off the Commission by the Chairman, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick. During the Commission’s fifth public hearing, Patrick claimed that Boller “hijack[ed]” the hearing “for [her] own personal and political agenda.” Those cheering her ouster say it was in large measure because Boller defended Candace Owens’ reportedly antisemitic remarks.

Boller’s supporters, on the other hand, see her as standing up to undue Israeli influence in the US. She also offended some by bringing up the “genocide” of Palestinians in Gaza. That’s perhaps hyperbole, but just last month the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) acknowledged that some 70,000 had been killed there, only one-third of whom were Hamas fighters.

However, the crux of this dispute is really a different issue, which is presented clearly in this clip starting at 1:11.

The concept of “just war” has a long pedigree in Christendom, particularly in the Western churches—both Catholic and Protestant. It has roots in both the Hebrew Scriptures and in classical thinkers like Plato and Aristotle. The former does accept war as part of the human condition, and indeed Yahweh often commands it — but it was tempered by requiring a rationale.

The latter both thought that “war may be inevitable, but it is always deplorable.”

Our Lord, in the Gospels, advised His followers to turn the other cheek when struck, and warned that those who draw the sword will also die by it. But He also commended a Roman centurion for his faith (as does the book of Acts) and, as C.S. Lewis observed, never told them to quit the imperial military. And St. Paul reminded his readers that a ruler “does not bear the sword in vain.” In addition, the conventional wisdom that the early Christians were pacifists (taught in college history books as, pardon the pun, a matter of faith), turns out to be greatly overstated.

Any objections the early church had to serving in the Roman army were likely because of forced emperor worship, not rejection of violence per se. Things changed dramatically in the fourth century as Constantine legalized Christianity in 313 AD. Then in 380 AD, Theodosius made it the official religion. Christians now had an obligation to defend the state.

Several years ago, we learned from an explosive exposé of Planned Parenthood and its organ-trafficking partners that some of the pregnancies which they ended were so far along that the children whose body parts they harvested were nearly or fully viable at the time they were killed. As one of the profiteers in the ninth video of David Daleiden’s earth-shaking series admits, she witnessed procedures during which the “fetus was already in the vaginal canal. Whenever we put her in the stirrups, it just fell out.”

O unhappy fall! Those children fell out of the womb, not into life but unto a death that was not profitless, thanks to Planned Parenthood and its allies — who finally answered Jesus’s ancient question: “For what will it profit someone to gain the whole world and yet lose his life?” (Mark 8:36 CSB).

Now we know the answer: “$340 per second-trimester fetal tissue specimen.”

Three weeks ago I dissected the second Trump Administration’s new National Security Strategy. The first of five major foreign policy priorities was a renewed Monroe Doctrine for North, Central and South America. That came out in November. It didn’t take long for the administration to put the NSS into effect, ordering US military forces to capture and extradite Venezuelan el jefe Nicolas Maduro.

The 47^th President is now calling our fifth President’s policy the “Donroe Doctrine” and that means “American dominance in the Western hemisphere will never be questioned again.”

Democrats and the media are fulminating that Trump is violating his campaign pledge of “no more wars.” Now certainly, the rendition of one dictator is not remotely the same as sending in the 101^st and 82^nd Airborne divisions — much less does it resemble occupying a nation for 20 years and trying to force bearded Muslim fundamentalists to watch Elmo and heed The Federalist Papers. But Trump, in May 2025, did tell his Saudi hosts that “the United States will no longer involve itself in nation-building or meddling in the Middle East.” He also declared that “the world’s superpower will no longer lecture others on how to live their lives.”

Narco-terrorist Nicolas Maduro was arrested by U.S. forces on January 3rd, 2026.

I first met Simin when I was invited to preach a retreat at an Anglican church in North London. Simin, a name derived from the Persian word for silver, was a celebrity chef who had won 42 cooking competitions on Iranian television. She and her husband, Farhat, invited me to their home after the retreat.

“How did you convert from Islam to Christianity?” I asked them.

Simin’s testimony was sensational. After her Muslim husband abandoned her and married his second wife because she could not conceive, Simin began to wonder whether Allah was truly merciful. Frustrated by what she had come to see as Islamist misogyny, Simin embarked on a search for the “true God.” She went to India in search of God. Prostrating herself at the feet of a local guru, she begged him to guide her in finding the true God.

Wait. What did Zmirak just say? Doesn’t he realize that a bunch of goons getting rowdy in the people’s own house is The Worst Thing Ever to Happen in America? That it discredits populism, Donald Trump, and the Christian credentials of every person who ever supported him? That it proves all the shrinking violets of the NeverTrump sorority Beta Dogma Stigma were right to snipe at everything Trump did from beneath their pink velvet fainting couch for the past four years? That in fact, it’s evidence of terrorism, as Joe Biden just claimed?

Never mind all that shrieking and preening. There was real tragedy at our nation’s capital. Just as in ancient Greece, the comedies honoring the horned god Dionysus were flanked by tragic tales. Dramas where the good and the great got destroyed.

Pope Leo XIV would have dismissed the Prophet Jeremiah as a fearmongering fatalist. Yahweh had guaranteed his people bulletproof security in a blue-chip covenant. Why, then, did this doom merchant have to peddle pessimism and warn of impending destruction?

Jeremiah was a pain in the nation’s posterior. Not having read Nostra Aetate, he was too rigid to accompany the inclusive Israelites in their visits to the high places of Baal. Instead of delighting in religious diversity, he was constantly castigating the sin of syncretism.

Worse, he wasn’t a team player. If he had only harkened to the plurality of prophetic voices proclaiming “peace” he might have toned down his paranoid predictions of enemy invasion and imminent exile. Jeremiah suffered from Babyloniophobia. Not having read Fratelli tutti, he couldn’t understand that the Babylonians were brothers, not enemies.

On December 23rd of the year 962 A.D. the city of Aleppo was sacked by Byzantine troops belonging to Emperor Nicephorus II Phocas.

Aleppo had been conquered 18 years before by a formidable Muslim leader: Sayf al-Dawla (which means: “Sword of the Dynasty”) who ruled most of northern Syria.

He was the chief Arab power against the Byzantine Empire, and his life was spent in warfare against them. In a short span from 945-946 A.D. it was said that al-Dawla engaged the Byzantines in over forty battles.

It might have started as a joke. Some guy got fed up with having to watch made-for-the-ladies Hallmark films about snuggling, egg-nog, and snow. (Hallmark is my girlfriend’s favorite network, so I feel his pain.) He noticed that the rip-roaring fun action movie Die Hard was also set at Christmas.

And he drew a theological inference. Namely, that wholesome winter romance is no more intrinsically linked than is killing terrorists in a skyscraper to the Incarnation of Christ. So he started making the claim: “Die Hard is a Christmas movie!”

Or even: “Die Hard is the best Christmas movie ever.”

That of course is silly. There are many, many better claimants to that title. I’ll offer my favorite. By Frank Capra, of course: Meet John Doe, with Gary Cooper. It’s a funny, dark, unsettling look at how cynical media figures and politicians can exploit the common man, and take away his liberty. It hinges on what “John Doe,” a washed-up baseball-player-turned-hobo will do on Christmas Eve. Will he make good on his widely-publicized promise to jump off the top of New York’s City Hall as a protest against the state of the world? Or will he find forgiveness, love, and hope?

Go stream it on Amazon Prime. You won’t regret it.

The Best Christmas Movies

I’m sure you have other candidates. My list of favorites would include The Ref with Dennis Leary, and (especially for kids) Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.

And obviously, It’s a Wonderful Life, a powerful film that explores despair and suicide, and originally flopped at the box office. It only became a Christmas classic by a quirk of copyright law. The studio forgot to renew its rights, hence the show was free to broadcast without any royalties. So small, local TV stations not connected to networks began to air it, wall to wall, at Christmastime. Then, and only then, did viewers discover what a great piece of art it is.

It might have been even better, had the studio kept its original ending. Instead of singing “Auld Lang Syne,” the Baileys and friends originally bowed their heads and prayed the Our Father! That’s right, that’s exactly how the ending was shot. But British censors bizarrely considered the use of a prayer in a commercial film potentially blasphemous, and threatened to ban it. So the deeply Catholic Frank Capra shot another ending — the one we know.

Die Hard Holds Up Really Well

Okay, back to Die Hard. I saw it when it came out back in 1988. But then, I went to see every movie that played at the dollar theater near my apartment in Baton Rouge. (The cinema’s air conditioning was much better than mine.) I didn’t notice the Christmas theme, and didn’t remember much about the film. It was only when Alamo Drafthouse in Dallas threw a Christmas party last year featuring the film that I saw it again, on Christmas Eve.

And I loved it. The film holds up really well, unlike so many movies from three decades back. The action scenes were gripping. The jokes are still pretty funny. And Alan Rickman’s villain stands as a character for the ages, with his bored, blasé sadism, and unflappable self-assurance.

But why call this a Christmas movie? Why insist on that?

The Religion of Humanity

I think there’s a deeper reason than simply trolling anti-gun activists and irritating pacifists. Or even teasing the girls. Linking Christmas with a movie like this is a way of expressing something much more profound, if unspoken. We’re sick to death of emasculated, sappy, smarmy social justice religion. I won’t say “Christianity,” because this world view isn’t Christian — not matter how many lesbians in Roman collars or campy Jesuits in cashmere say otherwise from pulpits.

No, the new religion that dominates Mainline churches (both Protestant and Catholic) is the “religion of humanity.” As Daniel Mahoney notes in his brilliant new book which I’m still reading, The Idol of Our Age, that creed isn’t even a Christian heresy. The sentimental humanism which dominates the UN, global elites, the European Union, and nowadays the Vatican, was consciously created by non-believers like August Comte to replace Christianity.

Unlike ancient paganism, it claims to be perfectly rational and to value human dignity. It appropriates from Christian doctrine certain slogan and sentiments. Sometimes it takes over major Christian institutions. But in fact such humanism is just a kind of minstrel show, which lets unbelievers craft a parody of Christian ethics that degrades the genuine article and insults our intelligence.

We’re watching this parody worldwide now: a virtual blackface act that doesn’t deploy our faith but insults it. I could multiply examples almost endlessly. I could track down actresses who favor partial birth abortion but loudly object to deer-hunting. Or ethics professors who promote both veganism and euthanasia. But let me stay closer to home.

Pope Francis, Vicar of Comte

You’ll remember that the Vatican endorsed the Global Pact for Immigration in 2018, which called for UN control over the flow of people. That is de facto open borders policy enforced by a burgeoning world government. And the same week, it rejected the desperate plea of persecuted Catholic mom Asia Bibi for political asylum. That was a matter of internal Pakistani sovereignty, a cardinal said.

No, don’t punch your laptop screen or hurl your phone across the room. I can do even better. Let me reach back just a little. Read this Reuters report. On June 21, 2015, Pope Francis denounced:

“…people, managers, businessmen who call themselves Christian and they manufacture weapons. That leads to a bit a distrust, doesn’t it?” he said to applause.

He also criticized those who invest in weapons industries, saying “duplicity is the currency of today … they say one thing and do another.”

Then in the very same speech, the pope spoke of the Holocaust. He said: The great powers had the pictures of the railway lines that brought the trains to the concentration camps like Auschwitz to kill Jews, Christians, homosexuals, everybody. Why didn’t they bomb (the railway lines)?

So is it Christian to make weapons and use them, or not? If not, then where do we get the bombs and planes and pilots to take out railway lines that lead to death camps? How would we take down regimes like Hitler’s that run such camps? Should Christians keep our hands “clean” by avoiding all acts of violence? Should we count on the lowly pagans among us to keep the peace and keep out tyrants’ armies?

When Christian discourse is constantly, everywhere, degraded and made ridiculous, it just feels good to reach out to Bruce Willis and embrace his action movie as a feel-good Christian classic. It shows a good man risking his life again and again to save the life of his estranged wife and a bunch of total strangers. Die Hard doesn’t mince words in depicting villains as evil. It doesn’t remake Jesus as the love child of Gandhi and Barney the Purple dinosaur. The film shows us that part of being good, and being a man, and being a good man, is the willingness to use violence under the right circumstances. It reminds us of the saints who preached and even fought on Crusades.

And that’s why Die Hard is both more human and more Christian than much of what’s coming from our pulpits.

On December 4th, 2025, the White House released the Trump Administration’s new National Security Strategy. This supersedes Biden’s 2022 one, and in some ways resumes the NSS from the first Trump administration.

I analyzed both of those prior security roadmaps a few years ago, but the biggest differences between the current NSS and the two earlier agendas are 1) the new one emphatically rejects the conventional “wisdom,” pro-globalist, bipartisan American approach to foreign policy since World War II and epitomized by Biden’s NSS; and 2) Trump II is much more nationalist than it was even the first time.

And while it doesn’t manifest “Christian Nationalism” this new security plan is certainly coming from a position of “Cultural Nationalism.”

The first face-to-face meeting between Zohran Mamdani and President Trump turned out to be anything but what had been anticipated. After months of trading insults, they appeared lighthearted, cordial and convivial before the reporters in the Oval Office on November 21st. One cannot help but wonder what kind of spell Mamdani cast on President Trump during the 45-minute closed-door-meeting, which left Trump infatuated with the man he’d called a “communist,” who had called him “a fascist.”

There were many jaw-dropping moments in the Oval Office where President Trump acted as Mamdani’s supporter and protector. He dismissed Elise Stefanik’s charge of Mamdani as an antisemite and “jihadist” mad man, saying, “I just met with a man who’s a very rational person,” one who allegedly cares about peace in the Middle East. Did Trump realize that his remark would undoubtedly frustrate Stefanik — and her campaign team — currently vying for New York’s governorship? Trump also waved off a question by a reporter about Mamdani’s democratic socialism, claiming that he and the mayor-elect shared many similar ideas, while Trump was willing to put aside their ideological differences.

When Pope Leo XIV was elected, I realized what was happening. Pope Francis had been too radical, too overtly Marxist, too crass. He kept doing friendly interviews with atheists, defending sexual predators, and making deals with the Chinese Communist organ thieves. He turned the stove up too high, so the frogs began to realize that they were getting boiled. Even the mediocre, faithless Globalist cardinals with whom he’d stacked the electorate realized that they couldn’t impose another low-IQ Third World sociopath on the throne — lest Americans cut off the finances which are the lifeblood of the Vatican.

Instead they would elect an actual American! Yes, they’d install a candidate who rose through the ranks in the Chicago machine built by Saul Alinsky ally Cardinal Joseph Bernardin — the man who invented the “Seamless Garment” as a g-string for pro-abortion Democrats with Irish and Italian last names. The new pope would soft-pedal the socialism, the ecological madness — even the LGBTQMYNAMEISLEGION advocacy that was irking the Americans — as long as he stayed true to the one essential program that advanced the Globalist goal: opening the borders of every Western country to conquest by Third World immigrants.
